Who am I?
I'm James Hardy. I first began creating websites in high school, making funny pages for my friends and helping my dad create a website for his small business. My first ever website was made by exporting a Word document as HTML and throwing it up on the internet — I've come a long way since then!
After high school I studied User Experience Design at Austin Community College. Through my studies at ACC I learned about how to turn users' wants and needs into friendly, intuitive, and useful interfaces and experiences. I also took a few classes in Responsive Web Design, which gave me insight into how to properly make frontend HTML and CSS for websites that work across all devices.
For me though, doing the design of an interface by itself wasn't enough. My first formal experience with programming got me interested in building the digital experiences I was designing too. A few years after graduating from ACC I enrolled in the Computer Science program at Texas State University in San Marcos. This gave me invaluable experience with both high-level and low-level programming, software engineering, and more formal education in front end and back end web development. A few of my favorite electives were Internet Software Development, Introduction to Databases, and Computer System Security.
In my spare time my hobbies include 3D modeling, texturing, animating and game modding. I currently have a published mod for the PC game Project Zomboid with over 6000 concurrent users. Check it out! I'm also an avid hiker and photographer.
